The Raan festival of Toucar (or Tukar) takes place today. If you are going to the Raan, please ensure you have enough drinking water with you and keep yourself rehydrated. If you are driving to Toucar with your own car, look out for those trying to get to the festival without a car and take them with you if you have enough room. This is a sacred day and a day to share and love one another. Demba Sene, representative of the Seereer Resource Centre and Seereer Radio will be there. If you see him go and introduce yourself. The entire team of the Seereer Resource Centre and Seereer Radio would like to wish everyone one a very Happy Raan.

The Seereer Resource Centre and Seereer Radio would like to wish all Gambians a very Happy Independence Day. 51 years ago, our Gambian forefathers fought to get independence for the Gambian people. We are forever indebted to these true Gambian patriots who worked deligently to liberate The Gambia from British colonial rule. Check out this audio on the Seereer Resource Centre's website recorded on the eve of Gambia's independence on 17th February 1965 by the BBC.

Seereer Radio officially launched on Tuesday, 5th January 2016 at Midnight (GMT). The first show Open Mike was presented by Tamsier Joof and Demba Sene. A slight change to the scheduled program with a mixture of Cosaan Seereer and The Seereer Religion and Culture Show. Tamsier was presenting from London, UK and Demba from Dakar, Senegal. In the last section of the show Tamsier played an interview we did with Saltigi Biram Puuy. We received many Skype and phone calls / text messages. Listeners really enjoyed the Saltigi Biram Puuy interview. Go to our Podcast page to listen to the interview if you missed it.
